Thrash-Her :
Motto: “Thrash or be thrashed.”
Quote: “Nobody puts baby in the corner.”
Hates: Greed, World Domination, Lawless Lobbyists, Corrupt Corporations, Political Oppressors, Blood for Oil, Inequality in our Educational System, the Mind-numbing Media. I also really hate it that women these days are too scared or ashamed to say they are feminists. Come on sisters!
Obsessions: being a mother; making things right in the world, protecting children, and roller derby of course
Idols: Kwan Yin: she’s all about compassion, yet she can be a force to be reckoned with.
Bands/Music: Grindcore; 80s/early 90s Thrash; some Death Metal; real Punk (not emoshit); Hardcore; old R&B; Funk; old Country; Lots of Favorites: Bad Brains, Terrorizer, Carcass, Napalm Death, Slayer, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Melt Banana, Sleater-Kinney, Dead Can Dance, Sly and the Family Stone, Black Flag, Parliament, Agnostic Front, Godflesh, Public Enemy, Loretta Lynn, Peaches, Roberta Flack, Mr. Bungle, Legendary Pink Dots, Tear Garden, Melvins, Aphex Twin, the Residents, Gong, Frank Zappa, MC5, Motorhead, Dead Kennedys,
Hobbies: Yoga. Gardening. Watching old videos on YouTube that MTV was too chickenshit to play. Reading books for free at Borders Café. Riding my bike. Being in nature. Looking at the stars.
My area of genius: Idealism that cannot be squelched.
Passions: Bringing down the man.
My secret revealed: I have super powers.
Least favorite place to be: parent teacher conferences
How I pay my bills: Like most of us: working a gazillion hours per week with little time for family while sub par daycares raise our children for us and take most of paychecks away all while listening to corporate welfare mongers gripe about their tax burden and how they earned every dollar at their cushy job that granddaddy warbucks hooked them up with despite having half the IQ points, integrity, and work ethic that I do, and meanwhile from their cushy office window in plain sight is the blight and pollution that their very unchecked evil business practices created, all the while their pretty PTA trophy wives sit at home in McMansionville where grand forests used to exist, while yelling at their maids, nannies, and personal trainers, as they write articles for the local paper about poor parenting practices among wretched welfare wenches, which actually gets published because of the so called liberal media which are more and more controlled by the same corporate assholes running the show who force feed us this bull because most of us are too tired and run down to think for ourselves. And you dared to ask…
Criminal I most resemble: Robin Hood: He stole from the rich to give to the poor.
Pets: two dogs, a tarantula, a bunny, and a husband
Books: I mostly read magazines: HipMama, Bust, Bitch, Mother Jones, some music magazines; Social Work journals; also gardening books, books on social/political issues and mental health. I also love children’s books. I think the last grown up fiction book I read was like 10 years ago: William Gibson’s Count Zero, or maybe it was Virtual Light.
Movies: Horror movies, documentaries. all of John Waters’ movies, David Lynch movies; Some other favorites are House of Flying Daggers; Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; Spirited Away; Princess Mononoke; movies where women kick ass, which seems to be hard to find in Western culture…
Things I can’t live without: love, food, water, clothing, shelter, sunshine, coffee, and rollerderby
Favorite past time: Listening to my son give an hour oral dissertation on halo, starwars aliens, menga, or whatever his expertise of the week is. Also just watching him grow up into an intelligent, creative, compassionate young man.
