While most derby girls are made, this one was born. The Lithuanian God of Alcohol, Benediktas, spied the fair maiden Vitalija and decided to bestow upon her his seed. From this copulation, a fierce warrior and drinker was born. At three minutes after birth and being able to walk, the ingenue put on a pair of roller skates at 5 minutes and rolled away to raise herself on her own, forsaking comfort and family.

Finding herself rolling all around Europe, she settled in the back room of a comic book shop in Amsterdam, she learned a love of strong female characters and professed her quest for domination in any way possible. Most of which was inspired by her personal hero, the Phoenix of X-men.
Since she rolled away form her birth mother, she never knew her given name. Going through her young life answering anything that started with the letter "D", she then took on the name after her beloved river running through her back yard, the Amstel.

Amstel simply masqueraded through her young life learning the education of the streets until she was drafted by a secret international society of assassins and naughty people. Her skills of sharpshooting, language, drinking people under the table and roller skating enabled her quickly to rise through the ranks.

After many years of service, she soon grew tired of people telling her what to do and exiled herself to the United States.

She settled in Cleveland, Ohio and found herself soon owning a small local tavern and enjoying herself. But soon she grew tired of such simple life. She missed the excitement of hurting, maiming and murder. Then she discovered the Cleveland had a newly formed Roller Derby League. She finally found a healthy outlet. Like Phoenix, Amstel Standin' was born... again!
